These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the OwnKeep iPhone and iPad application, website, and related materials (together, “OwnKeep”). OwnKeep is provided by Edin Heric, the independent developer of OwnKeep (“we,” “us,” or “our”).
Please read these Terms before using OwnKeep. By downloading, purchasing, accessing, or using OwnKeep, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use OwnKeep.
1. Apple license terms
OwnKeep is distributed through Apple’s App Store. Your license to the app is also governed by Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (“Apple Standard EULA”), available at:
https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/
These Terms supplement the Apple Standard EULA. If a provision of these Terms conflicts with mandatory law or applicable App Store terms, the mandatory law or applicable App Store term controls to the extent of the conflict.
2. Eligibility
You must be legally capable of agreeing to these Terms. If you are under the age of majority where you live, a parent or legal guardian must review and agree to these Terms for you. OwnKeep is not directed to children under 13.
3. What OwnKeep does
OwnKeep provides tools to organize information such as:
- product and purchase details;
- warranty and return-window dates;
- photographs, receipts, invoices, warranty documents, and notes;
- household inventory, properties, rooms, estimated values, and insurance-related records;
- reminders, best-effort recall checks, exports, warranty passports, and claim packets; and
- optional iCloud sync and household sharing.
Features may vary by device, iOS version, region, language, purchase plan, permission settings, and the availability of Apple or other third-party services.
4. Your responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- entering and reviewing accurate dates, prices, values, serial numbers, coverage terms, contacts, and other information;
- confirming OCR suggestions and photo or document processing results;
- checking official manufacturer, retailer, warranty-provider, insurer, and government sources before taking action;
- maintaining independent copies of records that are important to you;
- protecting your device, passcode, Apple Account, backups, and shared-household invitations; and
- ensuring that you have the right to upload, store, export, and share the content you place in OwnKeep.
Do not use OwnKeep to store or share unlawful content, infringe another person’s rights, gain unauthorized access, interfere with the app, reverse engineer it except where applicable law permits, or use it for fraud or misrepresentation.
5. Important limitations
Not a warranty provider or claims agent
OwnKeep organizes information. It does not create, extend, interpret, approve, or guarantee a warranty, return right, insurance policy, claim, reimbursement, repair, replacement, or recall remedy. Manufacturers, retailers, warranty providers, insurers, government agencies, and applicable law determine your actual rights.
Not insurance, legal, tax, appraisal, or financial advice
Inventory Readiness scores, recorded values, replacement-cost fields, current-value fields, coverage-gap comparisons, reports, and other calculations are organizational estimates. They are not professional appraisals, policy interpretations, claim valuations, or advice. Consult a qualified professional when appropriate.
Recalls are best-effort
Recall checks may return similar products, incomplete information, delayed results, or no result for a recalled product. Always confirm the exact model and serial number with the official government notice and manufacturer.
Reminders are not guaranteed
Notification delivery depends on the dates you enter, device settings, permissions, iOS behavior, and device availability. OwnKeep is not responsible for a missed deadline caused by an incorrect record, disabled permission, unavailable device, software issue, or undelivered notification. Keep an independent calendar entry for critical deadlines.
Generated documents require review
Warranty passports, claim packets, insurance reports, PDFs, CSV files, and backups are generated from your stored information. Review them for accuracy and completeness before relying on or sending them.
6. Your content
You retain ownership of the content you add to OwnKeep. You give us only the limited permission necessary for the app to process that content on your device and, when you choose, through Apple CloudKit or destinations you select for sharing and export.
We do not claim ownership of your vault. You are responsible for your content and for obtaining any permission needed to photograph, scan, store, or share documents and property information.
7. Local storage, iCloud, and household sharing
OwnKeep stores vault data locally by default. Optional sync and sharing use Apple CloudKit. We do not operate a separate OwnKeep account or vault server.
If you enable sharing, invited participants may be able to view, add, edit, export, or delete shared information depending on the available permissions and app behavior. You are responsible for choosing participants and reviewing access. Removing a participant or ending a share may not delete copies that a participant previously exported or saved.
An ownership-transfer or shared “warranty passport” is an organizational record. It is not, by itself, a legal title, assignment of a warranty, proof that a warranty is transferable, or confirmation that a manufacturer, retailer, insurer, or other party accepts the transfer.
Apple controls iCloud availability, account status, storage limits, security, and service terms. Disabling iCloud sync may not delete data already stored in iCloud.
8. Free and paid features
OwnKeep may offer a free tier and paid features. Current offerings may include monthly, annual, and non-consumable lifetime purchase options. Features and prices shown in the App Store at the time of purchase control and may vary by country or region.
Subscriptions
Subscriptions are billed through your Apple Account and renew automatically unless canceled through Apple’s subscription settings before renewal. Apple manages billing, renewal, cancellation, and refund eligibility under App Store terms. Deleting OwnKeep does not automatically cancel a subscription.
Lifetime purchase
A lifetime purchase is a non-consumable in-app purchase that unlocks the paid feature set made available for that purchase under the Apple Account used to buy it, for as long as OwnKeep remains offered and supported. It does not promise that every future product, separately sold service, third-party service, device, operating-system version, or feature will be available forever.
Changes and restoration
We may add, change, or discontinue features where reasonably necessary, subject to applicable law. Eligible purchases can be restored using the App Store purchase history and OwnKeep’s restore function. Contact Apple for App Store billing and refund requests.
9. Third-party services and content
OwnKeep uses or links to services and content provided by others, including Apple services, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recall database, manufacturer or retailer support sites, warranty providers, insurers, and apps shown in Apple’s share sheet.
We do not control those services and are not responsible for their availability, accuracy, security, policies, or actions. Your use of a third-party service is governed by its terms and privacy policy. References and links are provided for convenience and do not imply endorsement.
10. Ownership of OwnKeep
OwnKeep, including its software, design, branding, text, and original materials, is owned by its developer or licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms give you a limited right to use OwnKeep under the Apple Standard EULA; they do not transfer ownership of OwnKeep or its intellectual property.
“OwnKeep” and associated logos may not be used in a way that suggests sponsorship or endorsement without written permission.
11. Updates, availability, and changes
We may release updates to fix issues, improve security, add features, or maintain compatibility. Some updates may be required for continued use. We do not guarantee that OwnKeep will always be available, error-free, compatible with every device, or supported indefinitely.
We may suspend or discontinue all or part of OwnKeep where reasonably necessary, including for security, legal, technical, or operational reasons. Where required by law, we will provide appropriate notice or remedies.
12. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, OwnKeep is provided “as is” and “as available,” with all faults and without warranties beyond those that cannot legally be excluded. We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, quiet enjoyment, and non-infringement to the extent permitted by law.
Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties, guarantees, or consumer rights that cannot be excluded under the law where you live.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, OwnKeep and its owners, employees, contractors, and licensors will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, deadlines, coverage, claims, reimbursements, profits, or opportunities arising from or related to OwnKeep.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for claims relating to OwnKeep will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid for OwnKeep during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim or (b) USD $50.
These limitations do not apply where liability cannot be limited or excluded by law, including any mandatory consumer-protection rights.
14. Suspension and termination
You may stop using OwnKeep at any time. You can delete local data within the app, manage iCloud data through applicable Apple controls, and manage purchases through your Apple Account.
We may suspend access to features or terminate the license where permitted by the Apple Standard EULA and applicable law, including for material violation of these Terms, fraud, security abuse, or unlawful use. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination—including ownership, disclaimers, limitations, and dispute provisions—will survive.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by applicable law, including any non-waivable consumer protections that apply where you live. Nothing in these Terms requires a forum or procedure that applicable law does not permit.
Before filing a formal claim, please contact {{ cfg.legalOrSupportEmail }} and provide a concise description of the issue. This informal step does not limit any right or deadline you have under applicable law.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect new features, legal requirements, or operational changes. We will update the “Last updated” date and provide any additional notice required by law. Continuing to use OwnKeep after revised Terms take effect means you accept them, except where the law requires a different form of consent.
