Include:
- your OwnKeep app version and build number;
- your iPhone or iPad model and iOS version;
- the language selected in OwnKeep;
- the steps that led to the problem;
- the exact error message; and
- a screenshot, if it does not expose sensitive information.

Before you attach anything: please remove or cover serial numbers, addresses, policy numbers, payment details, receipts, and other sensitive information unless it is essential to the request.
Quick help
Getting started
- Open Overview and tap the add button.
- Photograph or import the item, then scan or attach its receipt.
- Confirm the product, purchase, return-window, and warranty information.
- Add manufacturer and extended coverage as separate periods when applicable.
- Save the item and review its Warranty Story.
OwnKeep’s OCR suggestions are editable. Always compare important dates and coverage terms with the original receipt or provider document.
Photos, receipts, and warranty scans
- In an item’s editor, choose Take Photo to use the camera or Choose Photo to import an existing image.
- OwnKeep can keep up to six product photographs per item.
- Use the receipt or warranty-document scan to create editable suggestions and retain the original evidence.
- If scanning is unavailable, open iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera or Photos, then allow OwnKeep access.
- If automatic cleanup removes part of the item, keep the original or choose a different photograph with clearer separation from the background.
Recognition and supported image processing happen on the device. Review every suggestion before relying on it.
Warranty and return reminders
- Open Settings → Reminder schedule.
- Turn on Warranty reminders.
- Enable or disable the individual 90-, 60-, 30-, 7-, and 1-day reminders you want.
- In iOS Settings → Notifications → OwnKeep, allow notifications.
- Confirm that the item’s start and end dates are correct.
Return windows use their own countdown and are not combined with warranty coverage. iOS controls final delivery, so keep a separate calendar reminder for a critical deadline.
iCloud sync is not finishing
Check the following:
- You are signed into the intended Apple Account on the device.
- iCloud Drive is enabled.
- OwnKeep is allowed to use iCloud in iOS Settings.
- The device has an internet connection and available iCloud storage.
- All household devices are using the latest available OwnKeep version.
- Reopen OwnKeep and allow time for CloudKit to reconcile changes.
OwnKeep does not operate a separate account server. Your iCloud account, CloudKit availability, and Apple service status can affect synchronization.
Household sharing
- Open Settings → iCloud & Household → Manage household.
- Create a household only when you are ready to invite participants.
- No members appear by default on a fresh install.
- Invite only people you trust. Shared participants may be able to view or change household records.
- If an invitation is not arriving, confirm that the recipient is signed into iCloud and can receive CloudKit sharing invitations.
Restore OwnKeep Pro
- Confirm the device is signed into the Apple Account used for the purchase.
- Open the OwnKeep Pro screen.
- Tap Restore Purchases.
- Allow the App Store a moment to verify the purchase.
Apple manages billing and refunds. For a charge, renewal, cancellation, or refund question, use Apple’s purchase and subscription support.
Change language or currency
- Open Settings → Language & Currency.
- Choose System Default to follow the iPhone or iPad app-language preference, or select a supported language explicitly.
- Choose the currency OwnKeep should use when displaying entered values.
Changing currency changes the display and entry currency; it does not automatically convert previously entered amounts using live exchange rates.
Recall checks
OwnKeep performs a best-effort recall search using the item’s brand or product name and the public U.S. CPSC database. An item with a possible match appears as an action and includes a link to the official notice.
Recall searches can return similar products or miss a model-specific notice. Confirm the exact model and serial number on the official page. OwnKeep is not the recalling manufacturer or government agency.
PDF or CSV export
- Use Settings → Data & exports for inventory-wide reports and backups.
- Open an item’s Warranty Story for a warranty passport or claim packet.
- A warranty passport is a concise summary of one item and its coverage.
- A claim packet adds the evidence available for a claim, such as receipts, warranty documents, and product photographs.
- An insurance report organizes selected inventory evidence by property and room.
After generation, choose a destination in Apple’s share sheet. If text is difficult to read, update OwnKeep and regenerate the file before sending it.
Local backup and a new device
- Create a local backup from Settings → Data & exports → Create local backup and save it somewhere you control.
- Use Restore from backup to import a compatible OwnKeep backup.
- If iCloud sync is enabled, sign into the same Apple Account and allow OwnKeep to synchronize.
Local-only information cannot be recovered from a lost, erased, or replaced device unless it exists in an iCloud copy or a backup you created.
Privacy Lock or Face ID
- Enable Privacy Lock in Settings and complete Apple’s authentication prompt.
- OwnKeep does not receive your Face ID biometric template.
- If Face ID fails, confirm Face ID and device passcode settings in iOS Settings, then retry.
Delete OwnKeep data
- Delete an individual item from its Warranty Story when you only want to remove that record.
- Use Settings → Delete all local warranties to clear the local OwnKeep vault.
- If iCloud is enabled, manage or delete the corresponding third-party app data through the applicable iCloud controls as well.
- Deleting OwnKeep does not automatically cancel an App Store subscription.
Before deleting data, export or back up anything you want to keep. Deletion may not be reversible.
What support can and cannot do
We can help with OwnKeep features, app behavior, purchases, exports, sync troubleshooting, privacy controls, and bug reports.
We cannot:
- file or approve a manufacturer, retailer, warranty, return, recall, or insurance claim for you;
- interpret a warranty or insurance policy as legal advice;
- provide a professional appraisal;
- guarantee a notification, recall match, repair, replacement, refund, or claim outcome; or
- recover local-only data from a device when no backup or iCloud copy exists.
For a time-sensitive warranty, return, recall, or insurance matter, contact the responsible provider directly and preserve your original documents.
Accessibility and feedback
OwnKeep is designed to support Dynamic Type, VoiceOver descriptions, reduced motion, and status indicators that do not rely on color alone. If a screen, control, export, translation, or guide is difficult to use, email {{ cfg.supportEmail }} with the device, iOS version, selected language, and a description of the barrier.
